Trump likes to play these games where he says something awful but with enough equivocation and qualification that he can wiggle out with a sane interpretation.
"She's a radical war hawk. Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. Okay, let's see how she feels about it. You know when the guns are trained on her face."
First thing I would say is the military doesn't send people out solo, and I doubt having nine barrels trained at your face, dumping rounds, is a common experience for a soldier.
There could have been a way to make the anti-war chicken-hawk point without all of violent fantasy imagery.
Trump deserves everything he gets because he's asking for it by playing these kinds of wink and nod word games.
