San Francisco 49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest during a robbery attempt in San Francisco’s Union Square on Saturday, the team said in a statement. The team said Pearsall is in stable condition.
“He sustained a bullet wound to his chest and is in serious but stable condition,” the organization wrote. “We ask that you please respect his privacy at this time.” The suspect, identified as a 17-year-old male from Tracy, was taken into custody, Scott said.
San Francisco police Chief William Scott said at a Saturday evening press conference that officers responded to the area of 77 Geary St. near Grant Avenue, shortly after 3:30 p.m. Near the Dolce & Gabbana store, two people were found with gunshot wounds, Pearsall and another man, who police said tried to rob Pearsall.
