My google is broken but I'm gonna give it a whack....it was wither invented back in the stone age (the letters in "internet" all consist of only straight lines easily carved into rock) and lost for thousands of years until Saint Joe (my father) discovered them in 1936. Or it could have been a military research gig under the defense advanced research projects agency, a James Bond type setup. Nothing's been the same since.
And tomorrow is the first day of summer....the longest day of the year. I dread it. trump will be able to have more time to tell lies.

Nah, the internet was unlikely to have been created in the stone age. Hell, computers weren't invented until the 20th century.
And, also unlikely that it was created in 1936.
As for military research... I'd have to look that up. Not saying it's impossible, although it could be improbable.

But Al Gore is an inaugural member of the Internet Hall of Fame for a reason. And there's also a reason he was given the Cisco Systems Circle Award at their first annual awards back in 1993.
Tim might have created the architecture. But Marc Andreessen's Mosaic browser was the doorway to the Internet. Without the "general public" the Internet woulda gone nowhere.
And it's notable that Marc Andreessen credits Al Gore for making his dream possible. Saying "if it had been left to private industry it would have happened years later or never at all."
There's no one person responsible for the web we use today. But Al Gore deserves his spot. And I committed many years ago here on the boards when the "Gore invented the Internet" jokes were still flying in the zeitgeist to making people realize he deserves it. So I'm always gonna argue the Al Gore position.
