Either way you are all fuck ups. CK said that seeing a black pilot would bring up doubts because Diversity Exclusion and Inequity might lead to lower standards to meet quotas. Then he said, DEI is doing a disservice to black, Asian and female pilots because many people are going to question their abilities. DEI requires superficial attributes like skin color and sex to be factors in hiring rather intellect, experience and skill. The irony of the hole thing is that it is a racist and sexist policy because it portends to prevent making hiring decisions using race and sex by hiring using race and sex. Now, where he, and most of the general public are wrong, is that skin color is a factor in qualification as a pilot. There is a set of criteria that must be completed. The FAA sets those standards and monitors those tests. However, they are standardized tests and they represent the minimum government standard. What should scare the shit out of everyone is the combination of accelerated ambaby boomer retirements, record growth and dwindling supply of pilots that are experienced. I've flown with "qualified" pilots that can't even talk on a radio. They are not trying to meet quotas. They are providing opportunities But that isn't the perception. Further, there are far more opportunities for minorities and women in the form of scholarships and hiring preferences. |

Of all the airline crashes in recent past there have been no AA pilots involved. The pilot who landed the Alaska Airline that lost part of the roof…was a woman.
This type of discourse by Candace and Charlie is inaccurate, misleading, ugly and should not be given a platform. They belong on a street corner on a wooden crate howling at the sky.

This type of discourse by Candace and Charlie is inaccurate, misleading, ugly and should not be given a platform. They belong on a street corner on a wooden crate howling at the sky. It’s not racist. It’s a product of the DEI initiatives that the airlines themselves are promoting. An airline should state that they are looking for the best pilots. That’s it. The most capable pilots. That’s what passengers want. When they say they want to get to 10% trans pilots by 2025, or whatever, they are putting merit below some other characteristic. And people will look at a trans pilot and wonder…. If merit is the focus, and everybody knows it, then nobody has an issue with some 50 year old black guy flying their plane. It was a long time ago so I do not remember all the details. But our GM plant in Bristol CT. had to obey a law if it was a law, to have the percent of our work force black according to the percent of the city the plant was in. Like if the city was 5% black, our employees should also be 5% black. And I remember if we needed a certain kind of engineer and two applied, one black. The white with ten years’ experience, the black just out of college with two years’ experience, we would hire both. We had less problems with the black race than the white and other. We had a lot more of those white kind of jerks working there and had to fire them. Some before we could legally fire them, we had to send for rehabilitation from their drug problem first, and put them back to work. I remember one we sent for rehabilitation three times before they said he couldn’t be cured and we fired him. We paid for the rehabilitations by the way. More than a month. There is a lot going on that a lot of the left wing knows nothing about. |
