I'm pleased to report that the reporting of college football's implosion has been greatly exaggerated, but then the rumor of implosion apparently only happened in k-sue's brain.
Starting things off on 8/26 in the sec, we have the usually lowly Commodores hosting Hawaii.

Starting things off in only 3 days for our long awaited entertainment, we have the usually lowly Commodores with an 80% win chance as the host the Rainbow Warriors. I would normally go sec, but ya gotta love a team that'll travel 4,300 miles for a ball game against an sec team. Besides Jasmine will be there as Center. Sorta reminds me of a game my Dad's school played before he was there. Story at 11. 8/26 - 6:30 PM CT Hawai'i Vanderbilt SEC Network 4,328 mi Distance from University Of Hawaii to Vanderbilt University www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/401520147

#1 Cumberland University vs Georgia Tech
What a Game – For the home team – Visitors not so much. And a most lopsided game it was. My Dad went to Cumberland long after this game, he was also president there and I taught there many years after they sold their prestigious law school to Samford University. The Cumberland University Bulldogs had dissolved their football team the year before their scheduled game with Georgia Tech, but the past spring they had destroyed John Heisman’s baseball team 22 to 0 and Heisman was still pissed that fall. He refused to allow Cumberland to cancel the football game, threatening a lawsuit if Cumberland backed out. The captain of Cumberland’s baseball team convinced some of his fraternity brothers and other classmates to form a football team to play against John Heisman ‘s Georgia Tech team. I’ve heard unconfirmed stories that although they left Lebanon with more than 20 players they only had 12 or 15 by the time they got to the field. Many records were set that day.
Top passers • CU – Leon McDonald – 2/18, 14 YDS, 6 INT • GT – none (no pass attempts) Top rushers • CU – Morris Gouger – 4 CAR, -2 YDS • GT – G.E. "Strup" Strupper – 8 CAR, 195 YDS, 6 TD
There were no first downs by either team. At halftime the decision was made to shorten the third and fourth quarters to 12 minutes each. Who knows if the score would have been higher had they played 15 minute quarters, but the final score of 222 to 0 may have been Heisman's goal all along as payback for his 22 to 0 loss against Cumberlands baseball team earlier that year. While Dad was president a bunch from Hollywood, including Martin Sheen, came to town to consider making a movie adaptation of the book “You Dropped It, You Pick It Up”. Supposedly the title is a quoted response to the qb saying, “get it, get it” after fumbling the ball. (Bonus question – Is good sportsmanship part of the Heisman legacy?)

Jas, oh well, y'all are killing them in the stats, except for the score stat.
Edit: and the oh so important turnover stat. Either the doors really suck, or y'all have an okay team.

Well, we beat the spread. Yes, we did better than expected. We actually had a chance to win, but made too many mistakes. Plus, Vanderbilt isn’t exactly top SEC power.

#2 - Continuing with Heisman stories from #1 is the 1896 greasing of the tracks. AU students greased both rails a distance of some 1,200 feet with pig fat. Rumor holds that Auburn's Coach Heisman watched the train from Atlanta slide through the station from the roof of the recently opened Toomers Drugs. The train slid for 5 miles, leaving the players to lug their gear tripping and falling on the 5 mile trek back to the station. GT was a huge rival for the next 80+ years. As a kid I loved it because Auburn City schools let us out at 11:00 for the 1:00 Wreck Tech Parade. Greasing the tracks ranks #2 on this list of best college football pranks, but I find it hard to accept stealing a goat as a better prank than students greasing 2,400 feet of rails. - Auburn #1. www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/03/07/best-college-rivalry-pranks/1968429/WDE

There's only two consistently good teams in the SEC. Every other team ain't shit. If it ain't Bama or the Dawgs, they suck.

Well, you obviously suck at understanding sec football
No. I understand fully.
Champions the last 10 years:
2013 Auburn 2014 Alabama 2015 Alabama 2016 Alabama 2017 Georgia 2018 Alabama 2019 LSU 2020 Alabama 2021 Alabama 2022 Georgia
8 of the 10 are Alabama or Georgia. With two outliers.
The SEC is a two team conference with fillers. There is no parity. You are either Alabama, Georgia or you are Alabama and Georgia's bitch.

Yep, clearly you don't understand being part of the toughest conference in college football.

No Parity.
No competition other than Georgia and Bama. Everyone else is just pretending they are relevant because they get beat by GA and Bama every year.

I only see Georgia twice. By your weird thinking, you should toss them too.

Maybe this has more to do with you coming from a conference that only has 2 or 3 good teams. A couple years back, my team played 5 games against players in the top ten. That different than playing one or two top 20 and a bunch of unranked. I don't pay much attention pre-season to any team other than Auburn, so I can't speak to lsu and Tennessee this year - we'll see. Who knows, Auburn may be there for an upset along the way.
