As a child, I used to read a lot. Comic books, Bible stories, children’s books, etc. I would also read my Dad’s wrestling magazines. I remember reading about “Superstar” Billy Graham and marveled at his incredible physique. (Most other wrestlers in his era had dad bods.) A lot of his matches and promos are now available on YouTube.
Graham lived a very hard life after retiring. He battled depression after losing his WWWF title, and all the years of steroid abuse caught up with him. He would have died about 25 years ago if it weren’t for a liver transplant received after a girl died in a car accident.

One more thought: Graham not only had the look, he had great charisma. In retrospect, Vince McMahon Sr. never should have taken the WWWF title off of him. As champ, Graham was selling out arenas throughout the WWWF territories. But McMahon Sr. had pre-planned the date that Bob Backlund would the belt, and he stuck to that plan. Instead of having Graham give up the title, imagine what might have happened if he switched to a “good guy.” As Mercy pointed out, Graham was sort of Hulk Hogan before there was Hulk Hogan. A baby face Graham would have been the hottest act in wrestling. I made this graphic:  |

They change his name to "Deadman". The sleeper don't work. Stinkface don't work. He gets thrown out of the ring and the announcer throws him back! This could work! Greg |

Both of them had a sculpted body, natural charisma and the ability to do great promos. They also were pretty terrible in the ring. |
