When the sport was new, the options for the guns was much more limited. There were no dedicated paintgun makers, just shops that would take the Nelspots, and modify them. And they were loud because the CO2 pressure was unregulated. By law now, I believe the ball cannot travel at greater than 300ft/s. But we used to crank it MUCH higher (and we would freeze the balls, so they HURT when you got hit).

Why did I stop? A couple of reasons. One was time. Let's face it, a paintball gun day takes a full day. Another reason is that I felt the same thrill in online versions of people-hunting. I have been in online gaming since the late 80s, really starting with Doom, but eventually Tribes, Unreal Tournament, and then into MMORPGs, or MMOFPSs (like Planetside). Compared to those experiences, paintball became kind of boring and inconvenient.

It's funny to me that you think that I, as a liberal, do not like weapons. I do. I likely have handled as many firearms as you (mostly military, and likely having no clue what they were), have killed more animals than you (thousands), and have spent more time hunting other humans than you (in online worlds). I just don't like the idea that one person can play G-d over another person. What I did, there was no chance of actual death. Death is permanent. There is no going back. When I hear you casually talk about it, I am sickened.
