So far, you've shown me a string of horses that didn't become anything but a horse. You've added a list of other legged creatures that don't follow the same linear relationship and you've shown no evidence of a crossover. Here's something: Now, you're not going to argue that "those are all horses," are you? You also got this: Now...I don't know that you would look at that first one and think...yeah, that's a whale! Would you? Check out this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EntelodontGenetically determined to be the ancestor of hippos and cetaceans. Again, hippos are obviously not whales (right?). The farther you go back, the more guesswork there is. But the pattern is pretty clear. Over time you see increasing complexity and divergence. If evolution is not going on, then what is. Did you notice that the time frame for the "whales" is the same general period of time 40-52 mya? They all co-existed, evidently, so that kinda ruins ole' Darwin's ideas, doesn't it? Did you know that humans share a 60% DNA match with a banana? Well hell, that must mean that we evolved from the same creature! We share a 98% match with pigs, 90% with cats and 85% with mice and dogs. It's a match at 80% with cows and 70% with slugs. As far as the first chart, "horse" is just a label, but none of those creatures deviate significantly from the creature type. No transformations to something other than a horse like creature.
Micro-evolution IS going on, but to pretend that the changes above for the whales occurred is a stretch that is not supported by the evidence.

Of course, there's always the horse's ass. Now we know where you came from.

"Same general period of time"! That's twelve million years, you idiot! That's almost twice as long as the time elapsed since our ancestors separated from those of the great apes. That's enough time for five or six species to appear and go extinct!!! You are a delusional twit!

One error is assuming some kind of linear progression (which actually defies logic).

Am I the only one to wonder if we are due for another mass extinction? If not, overdue?

Actually, we're right in the middle of it.

More species have gone extinct during the last hundred years than during the million years that preceded.

Ah, but is that largely due to human activity, and not necessarily from some global change?

Indeed, we are the global change, we are the undertakers of life on Earth.

If you think that the changes represented by the graphic above showing these creature could have occurred within that short period of time (relative to evolutionary theory), you prove you know nothing about evolution.

It's a summary of evolution fiction, not fact. It's laughable that the mammals seem to originate out of nowhere on a single stem 250 million years ago and stay idle until they suddenly "blossom" only 65 million years ago. Amazing! It's a miracle! Oops, I'm not allowed to say that, am I?

I'm not 100% convinced humans are the sole cause of current extinction. I'd have to research it further. Got any links?

Two things:
1) UCB is my old stomping grounds. Although these days I can't be sure I'd get any more info in person than I can over the internet.
2) From your link:
"The silver lining in this dark cloud is that if humans work quickly to protect endangered and threatened species and their habitats now, the mass extinction can be prevented or at least delayed by thousands of years, says Barnosky. Adds Jablonski, "This approach provides a way to gauge progress in walking the world back from that brink [of a mass extinction].""
3) And a 3rd: Neither of us will be around in 300 years, so there is that.
4) 4th... A mass extinction doesn't necessarily mean humans will go extinct. But humans would have to learn how to cope with a greatly reduced biota, and that could well lead to the extinction of humanity.
5) And finally, what are the causes of past mass extinctions?

But it has little bearing on the facts since if fails to show any macro-evolution, just "POOF! Here's some mammals!".
